YAVAPAI COUNTY JEEP POSSE ACTIVITIES IN 2020

Posted on January 5, 2021June 25, 2023 by Posse Admin

The Posse remained active in 2020 in spite of the Coronavirus causing some event cancellations. We supported the Yavapai County Sherriff’s Office (YCSO) as one of their Auxiliary Units and continued to support annual community events. Below is a summary of our activities during 2020.

Search and Rescue –

The Posse was called out by the YCSO for various searches including a two-day search for missing adults near Sunset Point, a nearly ten-day search during the Batten-Landry investigation, and searches for a missing child in Beaver Creek, a missing teenager at Spruce Mountain, a runaway juvenile in Prescott Valley, a person with dementia in Prescott Valley and an evidence search at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley.

Evacuations –

The Posse is known for its evacuation capability which was put to use often during 2020. We participated in the fire evacuations and/or roadblocks at Bagdad, O X Ranch, Black Canyon City, Spring Valley, Castle Hot Springs, Wilhoit, the Slate Fire, the Pig Fire, the Creosote Fire, and the multi-day Horse Fire among others.

Community support –

For the community, we helped set up and tear down the Senior Expo in Prescott Valley, we participated in and provided traffic control for the Fourth of July Parade in Prescott, we set up and manned checkpoints during the all-day Man Horse Race and also provided communications during the event, and we participated in and provided traffic control for the Veterans Day Parade in Prescott. The Posse would normally have provided active support for the Wildfire Expo, the Electric Light Parade, the Santa Run in Pioneer Park and the Stocking Stuffer.

Prescott City support –

For Prescott City, the Posse conducts daily park patrols in and around Pioneer Park. We ensure these patrols are accomplished every day of every year.

Helping Our Community –

The Posse is always looking for other ways to help the Quad City community by delivering and/or unloading charitable donations, conducting snow rescues and transporting emergency personnel to their jobs during heavy snow events. On behalf of YCSO, we deliver water to people stuck in traffic for long periods of time along I17. The Jeep Posse is here to help and have been supporting our community since 1952!

Yavapai County Jeep Posse is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
